ADATA Industrial Releases First Enterprise-level eTLC PCIe Gen4 SSD - Paving the Way to Edge AI and High Performance Computing
Dec.28,2023

Taipei, Taiwan – Dec. 28, 2023 – ADATA Industrial, the world's leading brand for industrial-grade embedded storage, officially released its first enterprise-grade PCIe Gen4 M.2 2280 solid-state drive today, the IM2P41B8, based on 112-layer 3D eTLC (Enterprise Triple-Level Cell) flash memory technology. Its three major performance advantages of low-latency, large capacity, and high DWPD make it perfect for the high-end edge AI and high-performance computing markets.

ADATA Industrial’s IM2P41B8 M.2 2280 SSD employs KIOXIA 112-layer 3D eTLC flash memory components, with high capacity options from 480GB to 1.92TB, and supports the PCIe Gen4x4 high-speed transmission interface and NVMe 1.4 standard. It features 8 channels as standard with read/write speeds up to 7000/6200 MB/s. The IM2P41B8 is equipped with a DRAM Buffer and SLC Cache caching technology to improve random read/write performance, with maximum random 4K read/write reaching 250K/190K IOPS to achieve smoother real-time data analysis. The performance of this PCIe Gen4x4 SSD is double that of previous generation PCIe 3.0. ADATA Industrial’s R&D team has outfitted this PCIe 4.0 SSD with Over-Provisioning technology, which not only improves performance, but also delivers 1.8 DWPD (1.8 drive writes per day) and increases P/E Cycles from 3K to 7K. In addition to suppling high performance, the IM2P41B8 also balances capacity and lifespan by leveraging the advantages of 3D eTLC in a package that is ready to take on the market demand generated by massive data, edge AI computing, and smart applications.

In terms of the data integrity and reliability issues central to IoT and artificial intelligence, ADATA Industrial's independent R&D team has introduced the LDPC ECC error correction mechanism, RAID Engine, and End-to-end Data Path Protection to ensure data transmission reliability, improve data integrity, and support the TCG Opal 2.0 specification and AES 256-bit data encryption for data security. In addition, the IM2P41B8 (eTLC) integrates the advantages of ADATA's industrial-grade R&D and introduces the "A+ SSDTOOL" monitoring software, "A+ OPAL" encryption software, "A+ Power" low-voltage protection mechanism, and other technologies, using both software and hardware to create a high-quality product for a new AI era.

At present, the two flash memory technologies used in PCIe Gen4x4 IM2P41B8 M.2 2280 SSDs, TLC and eTLC, have been officially mass-produced. They are designed for high-performance storage solutions used in edge AI computing, artificial intelligence, IoT, 5G, network security, industrial automation, smart transportation, and AI monitoring. In the future, we will continue to optimize our high DWPD product line and are expected to launch 2.5-inch eTLC flash memory products with a capacity of up to 7.68TB in early 2024 to further meet the stringent needs of data storage.
