The Risk Of Data Loss

In the most SSDs, data is temporarily stored into DRAM cache or Flash cache. This takes advantage of the fast response time of DRAM to improve the performance of the SSDs.

  • The Host sends commands to the SSD controller to inform the controller that power will be turned off
  • The controller sends a confirmation message to the Host
  • Data saved in cache will be written into Flash
  • The in transmission data cannot be saved nor transferred to Flash
  • Data stored in SSD cannot be updated correctly, resulting in data loss, and the device cannot even be powered up

ADATA Offers Two Data Protection Technologies

A⁺ Power Protect

  • All ADATA's industrial-grade SSDs support A⁺ Power Protect.
  • Automatically detects external voltage through voltage detection circuit (VDT)
  • When voltage drops to 2.8V/2.7V, the SSD controller will stop accepting new write commands from the host

Power Loss Protection (PLP)

  • Featuring voltage detection circuit with A⁺ Power Protect technology
  • Additional Tantalum polymer capacitors to provide enough power for SSD
  • When voltage drops to 4V, PLP technology is triggered and data in the cache will be written into Flash in 75ms
