Smart Thermal Management

For Optimal SSD Performance
Smart Thermal Management
As SSDs continue to provide ever-higher capacities and come in smaller dimensions, they will concurrently generate more heat. As a result, more effective heat dissipation methods are essential to counter this and prevent data corruption or loss. Thermal Throttling is a technology that combats extreme temperatures and therefore protects SSDs and the data therein from harm.

ADATA's Thermal Throttling

ADATA's Thermal Throttling technology can effectively solve the hidden risk of data loss caused by overheating of storage devices.

  • Equips SSD products with a built-in thermal sensor
  • Configures the drive with firmware deployment of thermal throttling to manage device temperature
  • Monitors the temperature of the SSD via ADATA's A+ SSDTOOL(S.M.A.R.T. commands)

This technology ensures that data stored in the SSD is safe from extreme temperatures, while also helping to extend SSD lifespan.

SSD Performance with Thermal Throttling

When the temperature of the SSD reaches a certain level :

  • Triggers Thermal Throttling
  • Adjusts SSD performance to reduce temperatures
  • After temperatures have fallen to a safe level, the SSD will resume normal operations and return to optimal performance
